Photo Shoot

Last month, I created two completely different wedding cakes for a photo shoot at the majestic Moor Park Golf Club.  I am beyond thrilled with the gorgeous photos.

This first cake is a 5 tier white-on-white cake that was created to echo the exquisite detail on an Ersa Atelier wedding dress called 'Truth', by using edible Cake Lace and hand-piped royal icing.

The second cake, in traditional Asian wedding colours of red and gold, took elements of the exquisite Asian wedding dress, worn by Sabeehah.

Venue:  Moor Park Golf Club, Rickmansworth
Photography: Sophie Anwar Photography
Flowers & Styling: Floco Flower Company
Chairs and styling: Designer Chair Covers To Go
Make-up: Make up by Humera
Stationery: Papeterie Eugenie
Wedding dress: Seemas Sarees

Designer Shopping Bag Cake

Designer Shopping Bag Cake with Edible Perfume Bottles.
I received the lovliest email from the customer who ordered this for her daughter's 25th birthday:
"Hi Suzanne,

Omg, omg, omg what a fabulous cake!!!! Honestly it was amazing. I hated cutting it and it upset me so much!!

My daughter was so thankful and amazed at all the intricate details you had managed to include, I have no words to describe how beautiful it was.

I tried calling you earlier today but no answer. Could not believe my eyes as soon as I saw it, I thought I'd call you once Zahrah had seen it and as I said I tried calling you but there was no answer, her face was a picture and as you say that's the best part when you see people's jaw drop at the first sight of something so special!

Thank you so much from all of us for making Zahrah's 25th birthday that much special.

Take care and no doubt I will be back for another special day to mark another milestone!"
Well, it's emails like this that remind me just how much I love my job!

L Plate

L Plate Cake
Another year has passed...  and so again I was trying to think of what cake to make my elder son for his 17th birthday.  He wasn't having a party, so I made this very quick cake for him to share with friends.  He always likes me to try a new flavour for his birthday cake and I'm pleased to report this strawberry & champagne flavour cake was a HUGE hit.
Happy birthday to my darling Matthew.  I am so very proud of you and love you more than I could ever express.

Happy 10th birthday to a young man who loves maths!  All the 'sums' on the top tier equal 10...  My son, who is doing A Level maths, wanted to get a bit clever with the equations, but I told him I'd keep to simple maths that I can understand!!  Two tiers of chocolate sponge filled with chocolate buttercream, then covered with chocolate ganache before being covered and decorated with sugarpaste.  All decorations hand-cut and hand-piped.

Cake Catch-up!

Oh crikey!  I'm somewhat behind in uploading cake pics...  My bad!

Firstly, from the end of November is this football shirt cake, which Louise ordered for her dad's 65th birthday.  It was lovely to see Louise again - I last saw her when I made her giant fondant fancy wedding cake much earlier in the year.  I think this is the first time I've done a 'novelty' cake that isn't a sponge - this was a rich fruit cake.

The second week in December saw me make this cute Pokemon cake for Jaylen's 8th birthday.  The characters were all hand-made and edible, although Jaylen's mum told me that she doubted he'd want to eat them and will keep them, along with the Pokeball!

Then, we were onto Christmas!!!  I just LOVED making these cookies.  The snowflake and penguin designs were originally by SweetAmbs.  I love her site and her video tutorials are fantastic!

The snowflakes were gingerbread....

And these mini snowflakes had ribbon through them, so they could be hung on the Christmas tree.

I call these 'Penguins on Parade'...  they're a delicious spiced orange cookie.

And like the penguins, these gingerbread men were also wrapped up in scarves!

Finally,  spiced orange Christmas trees.  All the cookies were decorated with royal icing.

And a final group shot! ;o)

They were all the cookies, but my very last order of 2015 was a lovely cupcake selection.  I am particularly fond of the knitted texture of the jumpers and on the snowmen's hats!

Halloween Cupcakes

Gruesome Halloween Cupcakes!  Or, as I like to say - A gross of gross Halloween cupcakes (well, just over a gross...  150, to be exact!  But why let facts get in the way of a good pun, eh?)  'Gruesome hospital' was the theme of the halloween party and so they wanted various dismembered body parts!  All completely edible, apart from the pipettes/vials of 'blood' (raspberry sauce!)
