Pearl Anniversary Cupcakes

3 dozen pearl (30th) anniversary cupcakes, ordered by the couple's daughter, for a surprise party!

6 tier - Wedding Cake 'Amrit'

 

 On 28th June I delivered the largest wedding cake I've ever made to the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.  It was a 6 tier cake (although the bottom tier was a dummy tier - I simply don't have facilities to bake a 16" cake!)

The cakes were lemon sponge with lemon curd buttercream and coconut & lime with lime curd buttercream.  Once covered with sugarpaste, they were then highly pearlised before being decorated with royal icing stencil work.  The cake almost appeared to be floating, as it was displayed on a clear acrylic table and finally it finished with flowers - both from the very talented Floco Flower Co.

Wedding Cake 'Maria'

 

My very warmest congratulations to Maria and Hayden who were married today at Orsett Hall Hotel. Maria chose a pearl/champagne highly lustred cake with white royal icing damask stencil decoration finished with edible pearls, which complemented the gold accents of her decoration perfectly. With the bottom tier a light vanilla sponge with jam & buttercream; the 2nd tier zesty lemon sponge with lemon curd buttercream; and the top two tiers chocolate sponge with chocolate buttercream, there is something for everyone!

    

 

 The bride hired a lovely set up for the table... I haven't seen this before, but it was really effective! On the actual table, was a 'separator' - and on top of that was glass or acrylic top the same size as the table, that the cake stand/cake sat upon. Between the table and the topper were silk flowers, pearls, etc.  I'm not sure my photographs do it justice, but it was really pretty and very unusual indeed!

 

As well as the wedding cake, I also made personalised cookie favours - a lovely way to combine table gifts and name place cards!

Celia came to me with a few cake designs that she liked and between us, we designed this elegant 5 tier cake with beautiful edible Cake Lace, midnight blue ribbon, pearls, surname initial monogram and topped with a hand-made sugar peony. Many thanks to Claire Bowman at Cake Lace for allowing me me to incorporate her idea on the use of the Cake Lace into this design.

A rich fruit cake for my Aunt's 85th birthday yesterday.  Decorated with edible Cake Lace and sugar cameos edged with edible pearls and finished with a hand-made sugar peony. This is one of those cakes where the picture just doesn't convey the 'feel' of the cake.  It was so very pretty and I absolutely loved this one!

Last minute cake request from my friend for her daughter! As I was dropping my son round to their house this evening, I took the cake at the same time.

8" chocolate sponge cake, filled with smooth chocolate buttercream; covered with marzipan, sugarpaste and decorated with marshmallows - and finished with a liberal spray of pearl lustre!

Unfortunately, the florist hadn't arrived at the venue when we delivered the cake, so the only photos I have are without the fresh flower topper. :o( I'm sure the bride will get a good pic and let me have a copy, though! 6" lemon sponge with lemon curd buttercream; 9" rich fruit cake; 12" lemon sponge with lemon curd buttercream. All covered with marzipan and sugarpaste and decorated with brush embroidery roses, painted with pearl lustre.
