Wedding Cake

Warmest congratulations to Yuhan & Ammar who were married today.  Yuhan chose simple elegance with this two tier wedding cake, finished with diamanté centred, hand-made white sugar roses, black ribbon and a tasteful touch of sparkle!

16th Birthday Drip Cake

They're growing up too quickly!! I've know Taylor since she was at nursery school with my younger son... so 13 years! I can't believe she's 16 now (well, I can... my son is also 16... but, you know...!) Her mum asked for a 'drip cake' in pink with dark chocolate drips. I topped with with a 16 made from cookies, covered in 100s & 1000s, and lots of other goodies, including gold Maltesers, mini Party Rings, dolly mixtures, sugar roses, jelly beans, home made 'jazzies' - and there was a royal iced cookie on the front! The cake itself was chocolte sponge with raspberry buttercream!  Happy birthday, lovely Taylor!

Cheese Board Cake


Back in January, it was my husband's 50th birthday.  We celebrated with a lovely meal with friends.  Mr Pat-a-Cake said he didn't want a cake - didn't want me to go to any more trouble, seeing as I was already making dinner for 10 people.  But how could I not?  Now, when we go out, he will always choose a cheese board over a dessert.  He LOVES cheese!  So it was an obvious choice for me.  I decorated the cake board to look like a wooden board and then I baked 3 small cakes and decorated them to look like cheese - the Camembert was champagne & strawberry; the Edam was chocolate-orange; and the Swiss cheese was lemon.  I finished it off with some sugar grapes!  What was fun was how we passed the cake around after dinner and people were actually taking a little bit of each - like one would with cheese! 
Happy birthday to my darling husband.
