65th Birthday Cake & Cookies

Just a simple, but elegant birthday cake... the customer wanted a 'nod' to her husband's favourite football team, without it being a 'football cake'. So I suggested doing the decoration and cake board in the team's colours. She also ordered 30 matching cookies.

70th birthday cookies

First off, I must thank 'SweetAmbs' for her wonderful video tutorials.  I'm a HUGE fan of her work, which is simply exquisite.  One of the 'how to' videos is a technique using royal icing to make this delicate rose pattern.  I'd been wanting to try it for a while and so when I had a request for 'cookies in the shape of 70, in pink and white' I knew it was just the opportunity I'd been waiting for.  I am so delighted with how these turned out...  it just reminds me of delicate china or porcelain.

Going Back To My Roots....

When I first started seriously thinking about cakes, I thought I would do children's cake decorating parties.  However, I quickly discovered that I was getting more and more 'proper' cake orders and very few of the parties...  so I had a quick re-think and decided that, actually, cake making was the choice for me.

However, it was my niece's 8th birthday 2 weeks ago and she REALLY wanted a cake decorating party...  so out came the aprons, rolling pins and cutters and a cake decorating party she had!

The girls all had a wonderful time and if I'm honest, some of their creations FAR exceeded my expectations!  Perhaps I have some assistants-in-training for the future?

Chess Board Cake

Chess Board Bar Mitzvah Cake

All the pieces were made from chocolate and the black ones sprayed with special edible paint to enhance the colour.  I received a lovely message from the customer... " The cake looked absolutely amazing. The pieces looked plastic they were so realistic! It came out better than I could have ever imagined. Thank you so much. xxx"
