Dear Zoo

From the moment I received the enquiry about doing this cake, I smiled... it brought back such lovely memories of reading this over and over again when my boys were babies. No edible images used - all the decoration was hand cut / hand drawn and hand-modelled.

Charlie's first birthday cake was a riot of colour - and was accompanied by a dozen matching cupcakes (half of which had a buttercream swirl under the toper and half had a decadent chocolate ganache buttercream swirl)

Mickey Clubhouse Cake

The sun came out again today - just in time for Zakariyya's 1st birthday.  His mum had booked a lovely local hall and had a Disney balloon arch to go over the cake table (which was a 2 tier vanilla sponge filled with jam and buttercream and then covered with marzipan and sugarpaste...  character figures provided by the customer) and filled the room with play mats, toddler toys, etc.  She certainly went all-out to make this a really special day!

I'm afraid I don't know who to credit with the original design of this cake, as the customer showed me a picture of what she wanted...  but I do recognise the original design of the sleeping baby in a bear costume as that of Frances McNaughton.
