I made this cake for my darling husband's 40th birthday.

The ice bucket and the bottle are carved from cake; the 'ice' was home-made from sugar.

The brief for this golden wedding anniversary cake was to have two hearts, joined. They asked for just a little bit of green to be incorporated into it, as well as the traditional gold, as their family are Irish.

This style of cake would also be ideal for an engagement party or intimate wedding reception.

Castle Cake with Cinderella and Prince Charming

It's a shame I'm not as good a photographer as I am cakemaker.... this cake is sooo pretty, but the picture really doesn't do it justice! Two tiers of vanilla sponge, torted and filled with jam and buttercream. Towers are made from pastillage and the roofs are ice cream cones, each covered with over 100 hand-cut 'tiles', also of pastillage. Hand-modelled figures to represent Cinderella and Prince Charming.
